Ivivva Athletica

Orange County moms and dads can’t get enough of Lululemon athletic wear — It’s soft, versatile and stylish. If only the creators offered something just as fitting (pun intended) for young girls. Enter Ivivva Athletica, the new “it” store for active and athletic girls ages six to 14.
Offering the same high-end quality that Lululemon is known for, Ivivva Athletica brings brightly colored workout clothing to the O.C. and is particularly aimed at budding dancers, gymnasts, ice skaters and yogis. Just like the apparel from its mother store, the gear from Ivivva Athletica uses materials that reduce odor and have pockets designed to hold keys and money, while still being cute and stylish.

The new Corona Del Mar showroom store is one of five nation-wide stores that were created to test the market for this new Lululemon concept. “The girls we met in the Orange County community are active and excited by movement-inspired activities,” according to a statement from Lululemon. “Knowing that, we determined that this particular community is a good fit for our stores and our brand.” In addition to Corona Del Mar, other stores include: New York City, Chicago, Boston and Bellvue.

The new store is a showroom, meaning it is not as big as a typical store but still carries a wide variety of products. The showroom also has unique business hours. The store is open Thursdays and Fridays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11a.m. to 6 p.m.

118 Degrees - Laguna Niguel

South County herbivores rejoice; Chef Jenny Ross is at it again. Keeping Orange County healthy and introducing more and more families to the benefits of eating raw and eco-friendly food, the chef just opened the newest 118 Degrees restaurant.

The Ocean Ranch Village, in Laguna Niguel will be home to the third location, offering all the same plant-based, organic, eco-conscious cuisine that the Costa Mesa and Anaheim locations are known for. Nothing is cooked over 118 degrees — hence, the restaurant’s name — to preserve the nutrients in all fruits and vegetables, maximizing the amount of health benefits in every bite. The restaurant is also free of all dairy, soy and, of course meat, but offers tasty creations of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouted grains.

While many omnivores may raise an eyebrow of skepticism to the idea of eating raw, plant-based food  in a restaurant, it’s a great trend to try out, as the unique tastes of the fresh ingredients have surprised many men, women and children.

“My goal has always been to empower the community by offering a fun and healthy alternative: fresh, organic living cuisine. We focus on a comfortable atmosphere that is inviting and educational, so that families are encouraged to enjoy our many salads, entrées and desserts,” commented Chef Jenny.  She added, “I am confident that our new location in Laguna Niguel will provide an experience that is one to share with family and friends.”
