It’s a scientific fact that moms love jewelry. OK, maybe not, but it certainly holds true for two OC moms, Kristin Simpkins — mother of four — and Clarissa Zulik — mother of three — who developed SPARKLEMOM, a jewelry company that creates hip and chic birthstone bling.
Both Zulick and Simpkins came from big, corporate companies so becoming mompreneurs took some getting used to. “Often, we joke that we should send this issue to customer service, then, giggle as we acknowledge, oh yeah, I am customer service,” said Simpkins.
Although, this mompreneuring duo has a lot on their plates, they have come up with a strategy to allow them to juggle family and business successfully. “The key, of course, is staying organized ... I actually think I am a better mom because I have the opportunity to do what I love during the day and then focus on them in the evening,” stated Zulik. “I try to be as organized and efficient as possible before the kids get home from school. Then, I am able to give my attention to them — their homework, their activities and our family life,” said Simpkins.
