Facebook serves a lot of different purposes for a lot of different people. Some use it to connect with old friends, some use it to stalk ex boy/girlfriends, (or current ones for that matter), some to show off how cute their kids/pets are, and some to keep us up to date on EXACTLY what they are doing every other minute. My personal favorite aspect of Facebook is to keep up on how teenagers communicate with one another. 

When George Harrison died, Paul McCartney said, "He was a great guy, full of love for humanity, but he didn't suffer fools gladly." When Northrop Frye died, Margaret Atwood wrote: "He didn't suffer fools gladly ..." When Stephen Harper became head of the Canadian Alliance, a professor in Edmonton told a reporter, "He doesn't suffer fools gladly." Emily Carr, in her wretched years as a landlady, was "never one to suffer fools gladly," according to a publication of the museum in Victoria. The Associated Press once reported that Hedy Lamarr was much smarter than the world knew -- and, by the way, didn't suffer fools gladly.

After realizing I just wasted two hours tonight, on Facebook, I made a big promise (of which my husband is willing to stake money on that I won't be able to keep).

I'm taking a compu-cation (computer vacation)!

As we step into the first weeks of summer break, I'm going to take the time to live it up like it was 1989 (before I had a computer).

This is going to be a good, old fashioned summer break!

The fine print: No Blogging and No Facebooking (internet surfing and email are permitted, but only as needed to plan for the activities of the day)

As I say goodbye for two weeks... Here's my idea for an ideal summer...

Be outside as much as possible, but wear sunscreen, drink lots of water...and never let an ice cream truck pass you by without getting an ice cream!!

...I'll be doing just that, with my hard working husband and my big boy kindergartner!
