Hi Everyone,

I feel pretty happy these days with elementary-school aged children who are the correct ages for just about any family-friendly event.

And I no longer have to pack up the mommy bag filled with kids' stuff. But I do remember what it was like when they were younger and we couldn't do much besides go to the park/playground and library events. And I'm sure you've noticed how cranky I get about parents who take their 1, 2, 3, 4 year olds to events that the kids can't handle. So as Parenting OC's Calendar Editor I really try to find events geared to little ones.  The following class sounds great (the info came in after our August issue went to print.)  I've been to the ENC a bunch of times with my girls and they run really nice programs. Check it out and let me know what you think!

The Environmental Nature Center presents Little Naturalists: EarthSongs. Friday, August 5, 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Children age 3 - 5 and their adult friends are invited to join Beth Syverson, Artistic Director of Con Brio Studios, to learn about how we all can care for Planet Earth. We will use music as a fun and effective tool to help children remember our inter-connectedness with all things. The class will sing several easy songs that draw upon the natural environment at the ENC -- a Native American chant with actions, a silly children's song called "Dirt Made My Lunch," and more. $7 per child. This is a PARENT PARTICIPATION class. Call 949-645-8489 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to RSVP. Reservations required.  No walk-ins. Environmental Nature Center, 1601 16th Street, Newport Beach. www.ENCenter.org.
