Mission Statement
The editors and Advisory board members of Parenting OC recognize the need to make a difference in the lives of children, and we are dedicated to empowering parents with information and resources they need to be the most effective parents they can be.
Our editorial focus is set on serving the time-starved parent with a combination of practical how-to information and a hand-picked calendar of family-focused events. And unlike many parenting magazines that fill their pages with nationally syndicated copy and no local focus, Parenting OC is community-focused from cover to cover. Orange County is home to some of the top research centers on the subjects of child development, education and family issues from such world-renown places as Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and the UC Irvine Child Development Center, allowing the editors of Parenting to provide the most current parenting information available without leaving OC.
We are also committed to delivering a thoughtfully selected calendar of events and activities that is tot-tested, parent-friendly. Our goal is to help parents attain their goal: to nurture and raise and send out into the world a human being who can positively influence others and make a valuable contribution to our society and to have a little family fun in the process.
Our NEW Offices are located at 1100 N Tustin, Anaheim CA 92807
Randall Tierney
Publisher/Editor-in-Chief
randall.tierney@parentingoc.com
Before taking the helm of Parenting OC magazine with Ann-Marie Tierney in February of 2004, Randall was the Regional Manager of the publication, along with L.A. Parent, Arizona Parenting and San Diego Parent. Working as a journalist with several titles for over 25 years, he has interviewed such notables as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Denzel Washington and Tom Brokaw. As an editor, he led editorial teams at dailies, weeklies and monthlies, earning such honors as The Littleford Award for Innovation, Maggie Award for Best Essay and a Neal Award (considered the Pulitzer of the Business Press). Tierney held editorial posts at Santa Barbara Magazine, ISLANDS, American Film Magazine and The Hollywood Reporter. As Editor-in-Chief of Parenting OC, Tierney has earned national gold, silver and bronze awards as the team leader in design and content. He has served on the board of the Parenting Media Association for the past 5 years. Prior to his career in publishing, Tierney failed in several professions as a cowardly firefighter, a seasick Alaskan salmon-boat deckhand and knock-kneed stage actor. He attended UCLA, where he graduated with a B.A. in English. He enjoys writing fiction, coaching youth sports and hiking the mountains of Southern California with his teen son, Shane.
Ann-Marie Liggett-Tierney
CFO
ann-marie.tierney@parentingoc.com
When she's not overseeing the business for Parenting Orange County Magazine, co-owner Ann-Marie enjoys being a mother to her teen son Shane. Ann-Marie, a Huntington Beach native, is passionate about issues facing women in today's world. She enjoys participating in group studies focused on empowering women. Kevin Yoshimasu
Associate Art Director and Webmaster
kevin@parentingoc.com
Born and raised in Southern California, Kevin grew up in Santa Clarita Valley, but later moved to Orange County in order to pursue his Bachelor of Arts in graphic design California State University, Fullerton. As a recent graduate, he eagerly accepted his position as Parenting OC’s associate art director and webmaster and looks forward to combining his creativity and knowledge to give the magazine his own twist. In his free time, he enjoys drawing, playing volleyball, videogames, watching a variety of movies — comedy, action/martial arts, Disney/Pixar are amongst his top — as well as spending time with his family.
Danilae Smith
Managing Editor
editor@parentingoc.com
The newest addition to the Parenting OC team is Danilae Smith (though, everyone calls her Dani), the managing editor for the magazine. While she isn't an Orange County native, this OC transplant has lived in the county for the past seven years and received her bachelor's degree in literary journalism from the University of California, Irvine (Go Anteaters!). She has worked with many publications including: 944 magazine, FabFitFun.com, Newport Beach magazine and Peninsula Publishing and is excited to bring new ideas and content to Parenting OC. Though Danilae isn't yet a parent herself, she believes she can bring a fresh eye to the type of content that is brought to readers, with the aid of expert advice. When she's not pencil pushing or on the prowl for great new content for the magazine, she can be found shopping, working out, trying out a great restaurant or globetrotting with her girlfriends.
Danilae is always open to hearing from Parenting OC readers so do not hesitate to contact her with comments, suggestions, questions and concerns.

Vincent Vessey
North County Account Executive
vincent.vessey@parentingoc.com
Growing up as the 14th child in a Midwestern family, Vince was more than eager to leave the nest and spread his wings. After graduating from college, he packed his bags, emptied his bank account and headed west to chase his dreams of fame and fortune. Arriving in California with a fierce determination to succeed, he hit the streets to find work and landed a job at Universal Studios, charming his way onto movie sets and into numerous celeb events, receiving backstage and/or press passes with VIP treatment. His adventurous nature even landed him a part in a movie (you insomniacs may have seen it as it usually airs around 3:00 a.m.). Eventually he landed a gig as a professional dancer at Disneyland. For 21 years, he performed in parades, TV specials, commercials, and a nationwide tour; dancing his way into the hearts of millions. Throughout his years in California Vince has worked for three amusement parks, worked in sales for a printing firm, a fundraising company, a major department store and in advertising sales. He enjoys concerts, good theater, movies and reading biographies. He makes his home in Long Beach where he's raising his baby boy, Bentley, a cocker spaniel.
